Westlake Hills Residence

A Westlake Hills home organized around its staircase and the light that falls down it. Every surface was chosen for the hand as much as the eye, and the plan gives each room its own tempo.

The great room opening to a black glass-front cabinet, the bar niche and a wall of clerestory windows.
Bouclé chairs with velvet pillows beneath the steel staircase, the hills beyond the glass.
A limestone wall with a carved oak credenza, a sunburst mirror and a fiddle-leaf fig.
A brass globe chandelier set against the floating staircase and the treetops.
A lit bar niche with an oak shelf, glassware and blue-gray cabinetry.
A large-scale portrait above a cognac leather bench.
A bed layered with oxblood velvet and ivory pillows against a mohair headboard.
A carved wood sculpture in the foreground, the living room and limestone wall beyond.
